Osteoarthritis is a disease resulting
from wear and tear on joints over time, whereas Rheumatoid arthritis is an
autoimmune disease where the body’s immune system attacks joint tissues.
An emerging novel nutraceutical ingredient known as UC-II has received considerable attention in the treatment of OA. UC-II is a novel undenatured type II collagen derived from chicken sternum cartilage.
Previous studies have shown that undenatured type II
collagen is effective in the treatment of RA, and preliminary human and animal
trials have shown it to be effective in treating OA symptoms.
Undenatured type II
collagen improved knee joint symptoms in moderate-to-severe knee OA & RA
subjects and is well-tolerated.
